Welcome to the PhD student's guide !

This guide is intended for all doctoral students at Litis, whether you are at INSA Rouen, Université de Rouen or Université du Havre. You will find practical information on the course of a thesis in computer science, from daily life in the laboratory to advice on how to face the different scientific challenges, including sections on social life outside the laboratory.

This guide is written in a collaborative way by Litis PhD students or former PhD students. It is therefore evolving and you can participate yourself, even if it is only to correct a few typing errors, to write a paragraph that is missing or to take over a whole section.

This guide takes the form of a wiki, which means that it is not a linear read. It is up to you to pick up the information that interests you by navigating from link to link to the pages that answer your questions. And if you feel that a specific section is missing, don't hesitate to tell your doctoral student representative or to create the section yourself and add it to this guide.

Contribution to this wiki

If you wish to contribute to this wiki, even on a very occasional basis, just to correct a spelling mistake you may have spotted, or to propose an English version of an existing page, you are welcome to do so.

Before you can contribute, you must have a computer account at Litis and then log in with that account on this page (top right button). If you don't have a computer account with Litis (you can have one with your home institution - University of Rouen, University of Le Havre, INSA Rouen - without having a specific account for Litis), please contact the network/computer managers of the lab (you can ask your secretaries).

Once connected and present on the page you want to modify, you just have to click on “edit” in the top right corner (or on the edit buttons that are at each sub-section). The writing is done in Markdown, you will see, it is not very complicated (and the interface is there to guide you). Once you have made your modifications, you can save them by putting a small message indicating the changes you have made.

You may also want to create a new page. In this case, you must first create an internal link from a previous page to the page you want (this link will be of the form “doctorants:fr:nomDeMaPage” for a page in French and “doctorants:en:nomDeMaPage” for the same page in English) Once this link is created, click on it, it will redirect you to a page indicating that you have arrived at a place that does not yet exist. Click on “create page” at the top right of the interface and you just have to write your page.

For a more optimized tracking of changes, you will find below a link to a spreadsheet of current changes/additions with their progress status. Please refer to this table to avoid duplicating pages and please indicate in this table the pages you are adding.
